The whole week I was paraded around Vegas like a trophy. People were calling out to me like I was a celebrity, asking what I was wearing and trying to snap pictures. People wanted to know who was the mysterious, but gutta chick that occupied Zaneâs attention. It didnât help that someone recorded me busting Cabrina in the face with the glass, so there were memeâs everywhere and Shade Room was tagging me in videos. Besides that, the whole time felt like the highest of my life. So, right now taking Mr. Gonzalesâs temperature had to be the lowest. I didnât want to come to work this morning. I had to drag myself out the bed and get dressed.
âYou have a little fever. Itâs normal considering you just had surgery. Weâll give you some antibiotics, and if it doesnât go down in a couple hours, Iâll page the doctor,â I told my patient, and he nodded.
I walked to the nurseâs station and sat down. I had lunch, and I was looking for my replacement. I didnât get along with any of the nurses. We were all around the same age, and graduated from the same nursing schools. There were a couple older ones, but they stayed to themselves. I spotted Tanisha, and waved her over.
âYouâre my replacement for lunch,â I reminded her, since she had her lunch bag and was about to dip down the hall.
She sucked her teeth and slung her bag onto the counter. âGo ahead, and donât be late coming back.â
âI think I might be,â I smirked and switched away from the nurseâs section.
I walked out to my car, ready to head to Chipotle down the street. I had a surprise waiting for my ass, and this wasnât the good kind. Ki was sitting on the hood of my car, smoking a cigarette. I hadnât spoke to him since the text message he sent me yesterday. After seeing shit from Zaneâs side, I didnât want to deal with Kiâs âweâre going to be togetherâ speeches. Zane, who hadnât known me long, put bitches in their place all weekend. He didnât allow me to feel insecure for a second. Ki, who I had been on and off with for a while couldnât do that. I had to constantly fight bitches and protect my place in his life, and I didnât want to anymore.
âHey Ki, what you doing here?â I asked, pulling my keys out my purse.
He flicked his cigarette and got off the car. âI donât know⦠you got other niggas answering your phone, running around Vegas on this niggaâs arms and shit. I donât know why I am here,â he smartly replied.
âWeâre not together, Ki,â I laughed, and opened my car door. âI can run around with whoever I want, and so can you. Now, the phone incident I apologize for, but weâre grown and single.â
âSo last week meant nothing to you? All my words I shared with you?â
âThatâs it, their words, you arenât showing me no actions.
