The whole week I was paraded around Vegas like a trophy. People were calling out to me like I was a celebrity, asking what I was wearing and trying to snap pictures. People wanted to know who was the mysterious, but gutta chick that occupied Zane’s attention. It didn’t help that someone recorded me busting Cabrina in the face with the glass, so there were meme’s everywhere and Shade Room was tagging me in videos. Besides that, the whole time felt like the highest of my life. So, right now taking Mr. Gonzales’s temperature had to be the lowest. I didn’t want to come to work this morning. I had to drag myself out the bed and get dressed.

“You have a little fever. It’s normal considering you just had surgery. We’ll give you some antibiotics, and if it doesn’t go down in a couple hours, I’ll page the doctor,” I told my patient, and he nodded.

I walked to the nurse’s station and sat down. I had lunch, and I was looking for my replacement. I didn’t get along with any of the nurses. We were all around the same age, and graduated from the same nursing schools. There were a couple older ones, but they stayed to themselves. I spotted Tanisha, and waved her over.

“You’re my replacement for lunch,” I reminded her, since she had her lunch bag and was about to dip down the hall.

She sucked her teeth and slung her bag onto the counter. “Go ahead, and don’t be late coming back.”

“I think I might be,” I smirked and switched away from the nurse’s section.

I walked out to my car, ready to head to Chipotle down the street. I had a surprise waiting for my ass, and this wasn’t the good kind. Ki was sitting on the hood of my car, smoking a cigarette. I hadn’t spoke to him since the text message he sent me yesterday. After seeing shit from Zane’s side, I didn’t want to deal with Ki’s ‘we’re going to be together’ speeches. Zane, who hadn’t known me long, put bitches in their place all weekend. He didn’t allow me to feel insecure for a second. Ki, who I had been on and off with for a while couldn’t do that. I had to constantly fight bitches and protect my place in his life, and I didn’t want to anymore.

“Hey Ki, what you doing here?” I asked, pulling my keys out my purse.

He flicked his cigarette and got off the car. “I don’t know… you got other niggas answering your phone, running around Vegas on this nigga’s arms and shit. I don’t know why I am here,” he smartly replied.

“We’re not together, Ki,” I laughed, and opened my car door. “I can run around with whoever I want, and so can you. Now, the phone incident I apologize for, but we’re grown and single.”

“So last week meant nothing to you? All my words I shared with you?”

“That’s it, their words, you aren’t showing me no actions.
